For many of us, our initial encounter with tarot cards is on the television where a mysterious, shadowy psychic is predicting future events with tragic outcomes.

As a more scholarly practitioner of the tarot, consulting with the cards for entertainment and the mundane is a misuse of this powerful spiritual tool. It is rare to experience the tarot as a doorway to intuition and as an opportunity for personal transformation.

Reading the tarot is not about impressing a person with psychic skills or how accurate one can be in predicting the future. It is about working with a person in a co-creative process to evoke positive change, understand life experiences, and change old patterns of thinking to bring out their best selves.
